“Removed old XLS*MBS classes”

Why? Not everyone can spend an additional $1199 to read/write Excel files cross-platform, so it would have been nice to have at least limited support.

Lately far too many items are being removed for my taste.

Well, they charge $199 per platform. So all three are available for $597. The bigger package is for companies who have several developers. The old plugin will be available on request for those who ask.

Would it be possible to have the removed items in a separate plugin (within the complete package). That way those of us who need to remain compatible with older versions or who can’t afford the bells&whistles (like the Excel stuff) still have access to it.

I’m reminded of all the removed items in REALbasic – sometimes I fire up an old project or open a downloaded custom class and I am greeted by a plethora of error messages, and I need to wade through them to even just get the old code to run. Would be nice if that could be avoided.

I see the problem. But over the years, plugins came and went. Some due to deprecation of old operation systems, some due to bugs, some due to legal issues and some because they have been replaced with new better ones.
You can get a copy of a plugin which is no longer included, but it maybe better to follow us and switch to newer stuff.
